They weren't too imaginative with the names of these features. Apparently this is one of only two volcanic caves in the whole wide world. I think I was starting to get cranky at this point as we'd walked quite a long way and still hadn't had lunch.
Just by way of explaining why I'd pack myself off to New Zealand of all places for 9 months, I'm currently in the second stage of my training to be an airline pilot. So far I have passed my NZ Private Pilot's Licence test, the company's end of single engine phase check and the first 8 ATPL Theory subjects. I'll be spending the next 10 weeks or so learning to fly twin engine aircraft without looking out the window and have another flight test before returning to Bristol for another 2 weeks to cram the final ATPL stage. After that's finished about mid February, we're off to Bournemouth for 3 months to do the Multi-Engine Instrument Rating test and our Commercial Pilot's Licence skill test.
